FAQs

What’s the difference between Term and Whole Life?

Term and Whole Life policies are named for the time periods that they represent. Term policies last for a limited amount of time, usually 10, 20, or 30 years year terms. They tend to have higher benefits, often $100k or more, and are good to protect families from not being able to pay things like a mortgage or college tuition in the event of the passing of a primary income provider. After the term, the policy either expires or the premiums will increase.

Whole Life policies last as long as you do (hence the name). Many policies have $10k, $20k, and $30k benefits, though some have less and some have significantly higher benefits. These policies are good to cover funeral costs and can leave something extra behind for a family in the event of a passing. Premiums will never increase and as long as the premiums are paid, your family will be paid the benefit.

When is the best time to enroll in a policy?

The sooner, the better. While it is possible to get a life insurance policy up to and after your 80th birthday, if you’re younger when you first enroll, you’ll have lower costs, and you’ll have more options available to you.

Can I be declined because of my health?

Each insurance company will have its own rules when it comes to who will qualify for each product they offer. However, there are products available that don’t ask any health questions. To make sure that you’re getting the best policy, we advise that you’re honest and transparent with your agent about any pre-existing conditions. This will only help to match you with an insurance plan that you will qualify for at the best rates available.
